In translation with Greek " Majestic city, city of Glory ". Military objects and inhabited quarters of city were stretched on coast of 23 bays in a southwest of the Crimean peninsula. The Sevastopol bay the biggest on Black sea, also it is accepted to count, that she(it) borrows(occupies) 3 place in the world on convenience, after Hongkong and Sydney.
The Earth of Sevastopol - special administrative-territorial formation(education) of Ukraine with the general(common) area 1079 км2. Севастопольцы like to emphasize, that it is more territory of Moscow, New York or Shanghai. But to be proud just it is necessary to that the grounds poorly enough are populated, the basic part of them is made with the protogenic mountain woods, well-known vineyards and gardens.
Geographical borders of the grounds of Sevastopol have extreme points: in the north - cape Lukull (44°50 '.с.ш.), in the south - cape Sarych (44°23'Я.Ю.', in the east - a mountain large forest (33°54'у.с.', in the west - cape Chersonese (33°22 ' в.д.). Coordinates city centre the arrangement главпочтамта (44°37'с.ш.и 33°31'в.д.) is accepted.
The territory of city includes an extensive agricultural zone where there are 46 villages and country settlements (a part from them gradually turn to the resort and tourist centres), and two small small towns – Балаклаву and Инкерман, and also one settlement of city type - garrison of naval pilots Kacha. |

It is a very large tourist center large in that sense that for one journey to Sevastopol you will not examine, estimate or understand all its history and beauty. It is the edge of fishermen and shipwrights, where through modern technology traditions of grey antiquity are looked, finally, it is an excellent bathing-place having unsurpassed combination of climatic factors. Its position in the center of the Black sea defined strategic interest to it from all empires including Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, British, Russian. Red and White, Stalin and Hitler. It was battled for, died for, exploits were accomplished. It was destroyed and strengthened by those and others. It was decorated hoping for the long garden-stuffs of victory.
Public. On an excursion practically all habitants of other Crimean towns and guests arrive here. For the rest connoisseurs and judges come here. Especially cult place are Fyolent cape, Ayya cape, Laspy and Batylyman bays. |
